With
the impending arrival of the Styx Consortium, the Segan Monarchy was faced
with a 10,000-vessel fleet, which was particularly sensitive to biological
weaponry. With Styx Consortium’s weapons emphasis placed on biological
phasers and torpedo systems, the Segan Monarchy, as part of its Plan 112
program, agreed to offer large funds to provide for the construction of a
new class of destroyers that would replace the Mary-Rosbourg, Katarena,
and Lilith class destroyers. The project decided to institute completely
new propulsion systems, as well as revolutionary hull designs which were a
completely new design with little to no relations to their earlier
destroyer counterparts. With the new propulsion design, the Monarchy
returned to a style that it had sought to reject, but the result is a
faster, highly maneuverable vessel with a low power profile, making it
harder to detect. With a fully integrated biological hull, the vessel also
features “self-repairs” in which the ship can repair itself thanks to
its biological components. Following the creation of The Alliance of
Incorporated Worlds, the Segan Royal Fleet handed over all of its Clarel
Class Destroyers to The Alliance where the Clarel Class vessels became the
backbone of The Alliance's new Ghost Fleet.

None, All Clarel Class
Heavy Destroyers are usually expected to be fast enough to dodge phaser
fire and to beat any vessel in maneuvering, although this opens up a
large hole in the actual armed defenses, there is a large suite of
countermeasure-type weaponry launched from the starboard and port sections
of the ship.

Manufacturer:
Temporal Systems, Raytheib
Model: TSD-Temporal Time Shifting Mechanic Omicron Unit
Frequency: .0002 milliseconds.
Ghost Fleet vessels use a different time-shifting frequency from
the Old Fleet; the time-shifting device is also more efficient with
power-saving measures. All Ghost fleet vessels have been fully
incorporated with time-shifting devices.

Bio-Metallic Hull
(Integrated)
Manufacturer: Fairview Biological Engineering Corporation
Hull Type: Biological and Metallic Compound
Specifics: A bio-metallic hull resists normal torpedo and phaser
fire at 10% greater efficiency than a normal tritanium/duranium hull. A
bio-metallic hull design, however, receives 2x the damage a normal hull
would receive from a weapon of biological nature. The hull also features
self-reparative features, which makes repairs on the outer-hull 15%
faster. A bio-metallic hull also produces a smaller power profile, making
the ship less detectible and producing varying hull colors (gray-black/
green-teal/ yellow-orange/ red-burgundy).
Absorbing Material Hull
(2nd Generation)
Manufacturer: Sego-Federation Skunkworks Facility 38
Hull Type Treatment: Absorbing Material Hull Treatment
Specifics: All Ghost Fleet Heavy Destroyers are treated with a
special AMH treatment which causes the bio-metallic hull to absorb sensor
scans more effectively, this allows for the Heavy Destroyer to operate in
full combat-readiness, yet remain fairly detectible. When in full combat
situations, however, the AMH must be burnt off (this effect takes 5
seconds and causes the hull to turn a lighter shade) to allow the
bio-metallic hull to become fully ready to take on phaser hits.
Anti-Sensor
Detection Suite
Manufacturer: CRIM Corporation and TID
Incorporated
Model: ASDS 3rd Generation
Specifics: The Anti-Sensor Detection
Suite creates, unlike the other anti-sensor detection system aboard a
Clarel Class Heavy Destroyer, a lot of background sensor feedback. By
creating a lot of sensor traffic, the ASDS hopes to attain such a large
traffic that enemy sensors’ computer systems have trouble identifying
where the ship is. Although this effect is short, the ASDS is expected to
act as an emergency smokescreen in the event that the ship needs to make a
quick exit, stage left.

Originally intended to supplement the
Segan Monarchy's military capability with an agile vessel that was capable
of much more rapid deployment than antiquated technology of the previous
Segan Fleet, the Segan Monarchy developped the Clarel Class Heavy
Destroyer to meet the demands of an intergalactic power. With the civil
war between the Segan Monarchy and the Segan Popular Union ending on good
terms, and the subsequent creation of The Alliance of Incorporated Worlds,
the Ghost Fleet was earmarked to become the building blocks for The
Alliance's fleet. The Clarel Class Heavy Destroyer is now the single most
important and versatile vessel in a fleet which has as its mission the
defense of 14 provinces' interests.
